Future cities design lab is our research focused lab that works collaboratively with other professionals and organisations, such as scientists, engineers and public institutions, to come up with forward thinking solutions that incorporate the latest developments in biotechnology, smart technologies and alternative reality technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality to address pressing social, political, economic and environmental issues.
We are environmentally conscientious and future focused designers and architects who aim to deliver innovative and enduring designs. Our primary motivation is to create experiences and products that create positive change and bring joy to our lives.
We have project experience across Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Australia and USA. We carry out Residential, Cultural, Educational, Installation, Commercial, and Sustainable Design, of which we can carry out independently or collaboratively with other practices. We provide a wide range of services including full architectural and design services. Other services include but are not limited to: future scenario exploration and visualisation and creative advisory services for events and services and general critique.
We are an ideas driven practice who believe that understanding both physically and philosophically, the accelerating pace of change and the increasing overlap between design and technology is important to our ability to imagine spaces and experiences that are more attuned to our future needs and way of life. This year we have been named the Game Changers Most innovative Studio and were finalists for our future focused designs in both 2018 and 2017 at the esteemed Tech event, South by South-West (SXSW) in the US. Our focus on both sustainability and innovation drives us towards designs that are both pioneering and enduring. Atelier Aitken won the Best in Bespoke Design Award for the Global Corporate Awards in 2016 and 2017.
Founding Director, Jo Aitken, leads a team of talented architectural and creative professionals.
